One of the best ways to get connected within the Artisan community is to participate in a Life Group. We believe that as the “body of Christ” or “the church,” we are called to share life together -- not only Sundays, but during the other six days as well. Life Groups offer a smaller context where people can worship, pray, ask questions, dig deeper into God’s word and encourage one another as a community of followers and seekers of Jesus. Most often these groups will meet in peoples' homes in or near Downtown Vancouver. However, we also want to be flexible concerning the times and places in which we gather. For example, part of sharing life together as a creative community will be to support one another's artistic endeavors. If someone in your group has an art show opening, concert, poetry reading or dance performance during a given week, their Life Group is encouraged to make every effort to be there!
“They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” Acts 2:46-47
We are currently on a summer break from our weekly Life Group rhythm. In the autumn we'll start up again, in at least three locations:

Alongside their regular engagement in worship, sharing and prayer, our Life Groups are currently working through a great book by Andy Crouch called Culture Making: Recovering Our Creative Calling. Here's a summary:
It is not enough to condemn culture. Nor is it sufficient merely to critique culture or to copy culture. Most of the time, we just consume culture. But the only way to change culture is to create culture. Andy Crouch unleashes a stirring manifesto calling Christians to be culture makers. For too long, Christians have had an insufficient view of culture and have waged misguided “culture wars.” But we must reclaim the cultural mandate to be the creative cultivators that God designed us to be. Culture is what we make of the world, both in creating cultural artifacts as well as in making sense of the world around us. By making chairs and omelets, languages and laws, we participate in the good work of culture making.
Hardcover copies of the book are available for $15 through LG leaders. Alternatively, the intro and first five chapters are available for FREE in PDF format here at the publisher's website.
